1. How many information partners is HealthInsite looking for and how broad is the range of organisations in the same topic area?
HealthInsite provides health information over a broad range of topic areas and life events, requiring a significant depth and breadth of content and information partner organisations. HealthInsite will not limit the number of information partner organisations. However the timing of their involvement will depend on the information partner's readiness and the ability of the organisation to meet the requirements of the process for the Assessment of Content for HealthInsite
2. How will HealthInsite handle conflicting information from different information partners?
To ensure the quality of information available on HealthInsite all organisations whose information is available through HealthInsite have been assessed by the Editorial Board as meeting HealthInsite's quality standards. The Editorial Board would make a final decision regarding conflicting information, however HealthInsite aims to provide the consumer with a broad view of the available information. In providing a comprehensive information base in a specific topic area it is envisaged that differing viewpoints will be presented. Where conflicting information is contained in a topic area this may be highlighted in the contextual overview. Having access to the full spectrum of information enables people to act as informed consumers and with the assistance of their GP or treating health professional, make informed choices regarding health issues.
3. What is the HealthInsite quality assessment process?
Information on the HealthInsite quality assessment process can be found in Assessment of Content for HealthInsite
4. How does HealthInsite link into other government initiativeS?
HealthInsite is a national initiative focusing on providing easy access to quality health information to Australian consumers. Some state-based initiatives have a complementary focus to HealthInsite and/or are HealthInsite information partner sites. Ongoing liaison between the HealthInsite team and the managers of other national initiatives aims to ensure duplication is avoided and health consumer needs are met in the most effective way.
5. Will HealthInsite link to commercial information on information partner sites? How will this work?
Where potential information partner organisations have been sponsored or are hosted by a commercial entity, the HealthInsite Editorial Board will consider the implications of ethical issues and conflict of interest as part of the HealthInsite content assessment process.
